Dear Church, Pastor, and Supporters;
1Pe 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Though the month has not expired, I felt that I needed to pen to paper the events which have occurred in this month.
We have fervently been engaged in transferring our personal and mission property from the property known as “the farm” to the new house which, we are now renting here in town. The days are long and the nights are short, God grants the energy and strength of which we need daily for this tremendous task.
Humanly speaking it seems as though we have lost a lot of investment, however at the end of the day God moves HIS people where they should be.
We are slowly settling in, to our new house, we do not plan (this is my vision) to be here any longer then a year. I expect that we will be busy for another thirty days completing this move.
In my last report I spoke to you regarding the issue whereby I was approached by some (new folks) which had been working with another missionary for the past three years, they had received baptism, but never were received as members of a N.T. Church, they were then told to go back to their villages and organize themselves into their own churches, they did return to their villages and they waited for three years for something to happen, but nothing happened. This is the point of where we now come into the picture, after I was approached and the discussions were made, I had given them a promise that I would come to their village and follow up on my promises to them.
On the fifteenth of May I set out from my home to drive to an area known as Nthaja. From our home here in Blantyre it was a three and half hour drive, we arrived there by nine am and after being there for about an hour several people had gathered. One of the pastors (Paul), another Billiard, and Grant (who stood as a deacon), were there along with Pastor Sokonyera. As we started services we were told by each of these men, that they had been told we were coming next week and they were not prepared for us, meaning, they had planned on inviting several different groups of whom they wanted to introduce to us. I simply replied to them that the LORD had ordained for that day to be the day of our meeting, and that whatever happened that day it was for them, and not so many other people.
The services were a bit long, but went very well, I preached on “What is a N.T. Church” the men were all busy taking notes as I preached, not because I am such a great preacher, but it was evident they had never heard such preaching before and had never been schooled as to this doctrine.
After services we were served a meal of chicken and rice and then after some short discussions of the next timetable we set off for the journey home. The day had been long but good and encouragement was given, received and felt that day. We arrived home a bit late in the evening but without problems.
On the 29th of May, I had booked another appointment to visit several of these new folks who stated they had an interest to join our work.
We departed early Sunday morning at 0600 hrs for a place called Balaka, the drive being two and a half hours over some paved road which resembles more that of a potholed dirt road in the outback. We stopped to pick up four men (two pastors) of whom we had visited on the fifteenth (two weeks ago). A short drive from there we arrived and were welcomed by the group of people we would worship with.
Services began shortly, I had two of our pastors who have been with our work from the inception (Bro. Michel Ng’ong’ola, and Dinala Chipala), both of whom preached and then I, as most always when I visit a new group, there are issues which I take the time to teach from God’s Word ever before I start preaching.
After my (S.S. lesson) I preached on the subject of (Water before Blood). There is a tremendous need here in Africa for folks to hear, know and understand that one cannot be saved unless they have been washed by the blood, and further (I believe) that if one who has confessed Christ does not receive (John’s Baptism) there are other blessings that God will (withhold) from that one, simply because Christ said (it – the Baptism) fulfills [all] Righteousness)!!
We had a good day in the LORD, and there were nine groups represented
