Dear Pastor, Church, and All Supporters:
John 4:23–24 — But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
As I begin this report, most of you have had some form of participation in the American Thanksgiving holiday. Here it is just another day, and I spent it administering examinations to the students of the Bible Academy. I am now into week four of the second semester, following a nine-week first semester and a six-week break in between.
The pastors and students number twenty-five. We start classes at 07:30 am, continuing to 3:30 pm with an hour for lunch. There are no other instructors or teachers — I bear the burden alone. The material must be translated from one language to another, requiring much energy, time, and effort.
I have learned in seven years of being here full time that after twenty-eight years of my absence another generation has arisen. They were not grounded or taught properly, and with only superficial preaching, a great deal of tribal culture along with Catholic doctrine crept into the local churches.
I have been teaching for four weeks on the doctrine of the New Testament local church. We have much to cover still, but are laying a good foundation and have just now reached a teachable spirit. I have engaged in many spiritual issues, battles, and almost heated conflicts. There is always a fight when sin is being rooted out.
The pastors are here in Mt. Hagen. We manage with what we have, and the pastors are excited about this school being in session. We have fought through much opposition over the past years. As we come to the close of another year, another chapter has almost finished in our lives.
At the end of the day, we all must answer the question: do we truly worship our LORD in spirit and in truth? Have we replaced true worship with tradition? Have we experienced true worship? What are we willing to do or sacrifice for True Worship?
There isn’t much said about doctrine nowadays. However, I for one, as a Landmark Sovereign Grace Baptist, spend much of my ministry preaching the Gospel and grounding people on doctrine. Do you the reader know who you are? What do you believe? And why do you believe it? Are you able to pick up GOD’S Word and prove what you say you believe from Scripture? If not, why not?
As you ponder these thoughts, may our LORD bless the work of your hands, keep you in the centre of HIS will, and smile upon your life.
I want to thank each of you for your faithful prayers and support for this work. I could not do what I do without your assistance.
In His Name,
Missionary Peter Halliman
