Dear Pastor, Church, All Supporters,

Ephesians 5:16 — Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Colossians 4:5 — Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

In the original Greek, this phrase carries the idea of the biblical open-air markets — much as they still exist in many third-world countries such as Malawi and Papua New Guinea. The idea is to buy back an action: to go beyond, above, and exceedingly perform this buying at all costs, barring circumstances, offering no excuses.

The days are evil. The times we live in are evil. The world system is evil. The governments are corrupt and evil. The ungodly are waxing bolder. The Christians of today seem to live in a self-induced world where everything is fine.

I have travelled 11,341 nautical miles from the South Pacific, crossing the Philippine Sea, across the Pacific, entering the USA at Chicago. My domestic flight was to Birmingham, AL via Atlanta, GA. It took me over 72 hours to make this trip.

I have spent over a year in New Guinea this time around. From the day I landed to the day I departed, the time has been full of events, labour, and troubles from within and without. However, GOD has poured out HIS blessings upon the work — calling out HIS lost sheep, baptisms, and new churches organised.

I have no set date yet for my return to PNG. However, what I can tell you is this: Mark 6:31 — “And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.”

Acts 14:28 — And there they abode long time with the disciples.

If any missionary is worth their salt and makes application to real New Testament mission work, you will be spent and exhausted both in spirit and body. This time around has taken the wind out of my sails as it were. I have written monthly reports — over twelve — since being on the field up to this point.

I am currently at my mother’s home in NW Alabama. I will take some quiet time to regain composure, and I will need to visit my home church and Pastor Steve Fulton.

After I work out what the LORD is going to do for my transportation, I will advise supporters and friends of my ability to be mobile.

May the God of all grace bless the work of your hands and smile upon your life as you serve HIM in your capacity.

In His Name,

Missionary Peter Halliman
