Dear Pastor, Church, and All Supporters;
For God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:5-7
I trust that this will find each of you experiencing the blessings of our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ, HE who was, IS, and forever shall BE, Amen!
The drawing of another year is upon us and at our doorsteps, many thoughts race through my mind as I write this report. I have come to somewhat of a halt from the many miles upon the highways and byways of this Nation. The many faces, which I have seen and visited with, have both encouraged me as well as stirred my soul in believing what I know to be true.
Since the middle of March, the day after we returned to America from the mission field in Malawi, my wife and I started another journey upon the roads here. After Forty-Two thousand miles, eight months of travel, twenty churches, Three Bible conferences, One Revival meeting, and many hours of fellowship with GOD’S people, after enough has been spent doing the LORD’S work, I have come to spend a few days ‘at rest’ as though it were.
In the past few weeks that have passed I have seen a ‘strange thing’ in this land amongst GOD’S people that I have not seen before. (“Psalms 116:15) “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”
Whilst living in Malawi, Africa I have preached more funerals then most of you care to know, and helped to burry with me own hands several of the brethren, babies, wives etc.… of those associated with the work over the years. However, here in this country I have not seen but one here and there that the LORD takes home.
However, within recent weeks I have received the news of six people whom were closely attached to my life in one way or another pass through the door of eternity and put on immortality.
It would appear (at least to me) that the LORD is taking HIS people out quicker then before. Some may be older, but some have neither been sick nor ailed… their eye were not dimmed, nor strength diminished.
No matter what your position on the ‘End Times’, there is one thing for sure, our LORD is returning as HE so said to HIS disciples. If you are one of GOD’S children, you will either sleep in this life and go to be the LORD, return with him (in spirit) to receive your redeemed body) raised from the grave, or else you will remain, and the LORD will return in the air to translate you from this present world, and life, to be caught up with HIM in the air.
Some of us will go before others, BUT we will ALL go at HIS appointed time.
LORD willing I will be preaching a ‘Revival meeting’ for the Grace Baptist Church in Winston Salem, N.C. where Bro. Andy Proctor is pastor, beginning on the 17th of Dec thru the 21st Dec. Please pray for the meeting that GOD would prepare the hearts of HIS people for HIS Word, and for me in preparation for the messages HIS people need.
Starting the 1st of Jan or thereabouts my wife and I will be in a position to pursue medical diagnostic work in order to ascertain what it is that plagues her health and hopefully pinpoint what it is, and therefore seek the proper treatment to this end.
Some of you may have heard by now, that Elder Ekere Ibago has passed away in PNG. I received the news a few days ago and was in direct communications with his son, brother and family there. This may just be the passing of another brother in Christ to some, but for the work in PNG it is more then that.
Bro. Ekere was a Tribal Chief, passed down through his father many years ago. He was a pastor/missionary, had great influence amongst his people and the mission work. His seat will indeed be missed; his elder son will soon take that position of Tribal leadership, alongside his Uncle (Bro. Ekere’s brother).
There are many things that have to be set in order and prepared for this change, I ask for your prayers on the behalf of his family as they await my return.
I further have another announcement and leave it between you and the LORD if HE should so lead you.
For many years now in the mission work of Malawi / Mozambique Africa I have borne the financial burden of the work, simply because I had lived there, worked there and operated the mission work on a grass roots level. That being said, since I am no longer living there on a permanent basis, I set up some in the work to take the leadership and responsibility of the work.
There are two men [Eric Dinala, and Edwin Chipala] both are married, have families and been with me in the work for many years. There are several who came to visit the work over the years in Malawi who have met personally these two men and know them.
They have assisted me in various ways over the years, both in preaching during mission trips, which we would make together, and independently being sent out by myself when I was engaged in other duties of the mission work. Further to this, they both have taught with me in the Bible Academy for many years. They are trust worthy, reliant and good men in the Faith.
With my financial responsibilities being channelled in other directions I do not see how I can continue to support these men. They rely upon my support of them to carry on the mission work in Malawi / Mozambique.
I have been supporting them over the past months right at Two hundred dollars a month. That is not a lot to Americans but to them it is a life, existence, and means to support their families whilst they do the LORD’S work.
I am presenting this burden to any individual and or church that would consider taking on this responsibility.
If you have a desire and would like to assist in some way, you may contact me and we can talk further about how this could be handled.
May our LORD guide you in your thoughts and decisions upon this matter.
In His Name;
Missionary Peter A. Halliman
